This position will report directly to Operations Director. The role will be primarily focused on providing Commercial Strategic direction, oversight and leadership for the development, implementation and review of revenue strategies for a portfolio of hotels, by interacting with the key stakeholders within the organization.

Duties and responsibilities

COMMERCIAL

  • Develop and implement commercial strategies aligned with company goals and objectives, both short-term and long-term, supporting Revenue Management, Sales, Catering and Events, Marketing, eCommerce, and Public Relations teams.
  • Collaborate with Operations, and Finance teams to ensure alignment and effective execution of commercial plans.
  • Optimize use of resources and systems to increase overall commercial performance and deliver on market share growth
  • Manage, activate, and optimize key accounts for the portfolio
  • Continuously seek new business opportunities that contribute to the hotels’ commercial objectives.
  • Organize and participate in commercial events, networking gatherings, trade shows, and conferences.
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with key stakeholders, including clients, 3rd parties, Brand Commercial teams and industry associations.
  • Stay informed about market trends and adjust strategies accordingly.
  • Efficiently tracking activities and results in the CRM and other reports.
  • Analyse data, reports, and research findings to continually discover new opportunities.
  • Lead, mentor, and manage the commercial team, fostering a culture of high performance and continuous improvement.

PEOPLE

  • Directing and Managing a team of across the 4 disciplines focusing on recruitment, training, development and performance.
  • Stakeholder Relations: Develop and maintain strong relationships with all stakeholders, including owners, hotel teams, and brand support teams.
  • Liaise with the company Operations Director to present commercial strategies
  • Contribute a consistent way of working in the team, aligned by set SOP’s and guidelines;
  • Be self-motivated, committed and enthusiastic
  • Promote teamwork and quality service through daily communication and coordination with another team members/director.
  • Participate and initiate departmental meetings, team briefings and project work
  • Create KPO’s for all team members to ensure clear goals

GUEST SERVICES

  • Build long term, commercially beneficial relationships within your customers/clients and guests;
  • Ensure accurate and customer focused correspondence with clients and stakeholders

GENERAL

  • Handle all administrative tasks in an efficient and timely manner
  • Keep team-members and operations director updated in a timely manner
  • Have a sound knowledge of all technical systems and procedures relating to the role

SUPPORTIVE FUNCTIONS

In addition to performance of the essential functions, this position may be required to perform a combination of the following supportive functions:

  • Professionally represent the portfolio in community and industry organizations and events
  • Participate as team player with other central team members as part of the company leadership team
  • Additional duties as necessary and assigned

Qualifications and requirements

SPECIFIC JOB KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES

The individual must possess the following knowledge, skills and abilities and be able to explain and demonstrate that he or she can perform the essential functions of the job, with or without reasonable accommodation, using some other combination of knowledge, skills, and abilities.

  • Must be proficient in writing, speaking and negotiating in English and local language;
  • Requires good communication skills, both verbal and written;
  • Extensive knowledge of revenue management;
  • Knowledge of hotel and competitive market;
  • Ability to analyse data
  • Ability to priorities tasks & to manage workload using own initiative
  • Excellent computer skills
  • Foreign language skills preferred
  • Previous experience in hotel, travel & tourism, service sector preferred
  • Previous experience within Franchise environment (IHG/Hilton) is considered an advantage
  • Team player – with a sense of humour even in the face of adversity!

QUALIFICATION STANDARDS

  • Significant experience with all aspects of pricing, demand analysis, yield management, business mix
  • optimization, selling strategies, distribution and intermediary strategy and tactics to maximize total revenue
  • A Bachelor’s degree /equivalent in Hotel Management, Business Administration
  • Good executive presence and personal presentation Financial/analytical skills
  • Project Management and program implementation skills
  • Strong communication and consultation skills
  • Fantastic strategic-thinking abilities
  • A team player mentality with strong inter-personal skills and people management skills
  • A structured and methodological approach to problem solving
